Heritage Day 2007
The ninth annual Heritage Day Event
was held on Sunday Oct. 14, 2007. The day filled with fun and
fellowship. This event is the only fundraising event Moye Retreat Center
does to help offset the costs of running the facility. This is a day of
celebration and a time to reconnect with the Sisters of Divine Providence,
friends and classmates. Approximately 1,000 guests visited the Center
to enjoy good food, good music and a great fall day of fellowship.
Below is more
information about the events held each year.
We hope to see you
this year!
Bar-be-que plates for sale, $6.00 each.
Enjoy some of the best BBQ chicken, Alsatian sausage and ranchero beans you've
ever had, courtesy of the wonderful cooks from the St. Louis Parish Men's
Society! The plate is rounded out with homemade cole slaw and potato salad,
made by the staff at Moye retreat Center. We
add some pickles, a couple slices of bread and a big glass of tea to satisfy
even the hardiest of appetites. The Men's
Society donates their time and exceptional talents to Moye Retreat Center. They
start the fires at midnight and wait for the coals to be just right so that we
can enjoy the best food since, well,
St Louis Day!!
For advance tickets see address at the bottom of the page.

Hand made arts and crafts, made by
the Sisters of Divine Providence are in abundance this day. Many hand quilted,
crocheted and sewn items are available at great prices. Do your
Christmas shopping here, not just for gifts, but for decorations also.

Homemade desserts by the Sisters
and by their many friends will also be on sale. Get pies,
cookies, kolaches and so much more.
Wear something with an elastic waist band
this day!
There are children's events, which
include a petting zoo and pony rides, face painting, bouncer, balloons, bean bag
toss and much more. In 2007 we added a child's meal deal of
Hot dog, chips and drink for six tickets ($2.00)

This year SoulStone donated their musical talents to the day. They
were awesome! It seems like everyone enjoyed their easy jazz and smooth
voices all afternoon.
There was a silent auction with
several antiques, hand made crafts, gift certificates, tickets to
events and various other items.

There were several quilts raffled this year.
A hand-crocheted antique bedspread, two quilts and one
afghan.
Chances were $1.00
each, or 6 for $5.00. You need not be present to win.
2007 winners:
Zonia Tamez - hand crocheted antique quilt
Betty Breen - quilt
Sister Ramona Bezner, CDP - children's quilt
Pauline Lawicek - crocheted afghan and pillow

Also, all our historic buildings were open to the public for touring.
